Vbeam Pulsed Dye Laser – Mirabel Clinic – Swindon

The skin is the largest organ of the body and protects us in so many ways, from regulating body heat to shielding our organs from harm, it truly is a wonder of nature. It’s no wonder therefore, that our skin can succumb to imperfections such as vascular and pigmented lesions. Although usually completely harmless, lesions can cause embarrassment, especially if they are present in highly visible areas. As skin imperfections which do not pose any harm to the body are not usually treatable on the NHS, we may seek the help of private medical professionals and innovative technology, to rid us of these annoying and troubling lumps or marks. At Mirabel Clinic in Swindon, we offer the Gold Standard and world leading pulsed-dye laser treatment for the removal of vascular, pigmented and even some non-pigmented lesions. This treatment is called Vbeam Perfecta.

What is a pulsed dye laser?

Pulsed dye lasers offer a non-surgical approach to cosmetic treatment of the skin. They deliver an intense but gentle burst of light in to areas of the skin which have been selectively targeted for treatment. This light is absorbed by specific melanin pigmented areas or blood vessels, depending on which dermal condition is treated.

What type of skin lesions can Vbeam Perfecta treat?

The Vbeam Perfecta can treat a variety of skin lesions, these include:-

  • Facial and spider (thread) veins
  • Pigmented lesions
  • Rosacea
  • Vascular lesions
  • Warts / verrucas

Am I a suitable candidate for a treatment with Vbeam Perfecta

Most patients will be able to benefit from a treatment with the Vbeam Perfecta. However, before a treatment can be agreed, here at Mirabel Clinic in Swindon, we will ask that you attend a no obligation, free of charge consultation, so that we can assess your individual skin concerns, check your medical history and ensure that the type of skin lesions you have, as well as their location on the body, can indeed, be treated by the Vbeam Perfecta laser.

Does Vbeam Perfecta hurt?

During a Vbeam Perfecta treatment, special cooling technology by the manufacturer Candela is utilised, for a comfortable treatment experience. A mild sensation of heating or tingling may be experienced, but this should not be painful. If you are particularly worried or sensitive, a topical anaesthetic can be applied, for complete peace of mind. However, Candela’s dynamic cooling method (DCD) delivers a cooling mist on to the skin, before the laser pulse is emitted. This cooling mist helps to increase comfort and wellbeing during the Vbeam Perfecta treatment. It will also protect the skin to minimise side effects, such as redness, swelling or laser bruising.

Will I need to protect my skin before and after a Vbeam Perfecta treatment?

As with any laser treatment, protecting your skin before, during and after the procedure is vital for skin health and better healing. An SPF50 sunblock needs to be used throughout your treatment course, as well as avoiding sun exposure before, throughout and after the treatment, to maximise your results and avoid any unwanted reactions.

When will I see the results of my Vbeam Perfecta treatment?

Depending on the type of lesion, it’s size, colour and location on the body, you may well see results right away. However, a course of treatment might be required, for optimum results and this course, will be discussed with your practitioner at your pre-treatment consultation, here at Mirabel Clinic.

Are the results from Vbeam permanent?

There are many factors which would determine whether your results from the Vbeam Perfecta treatment will be permanent. For example, if you have some pigmentation removed which is caused by sun exposure, then continue to sunbathe without a good quality, high-factor sunscreen, the likelihood of your sunspots returning will be very high. Equally, if there is deep-set pigmentation not yet visible on the skin, this may emerge over time and will need treatment.
