At Mirabel Clinic in Swindon we always offer a complimentary initial consultation before any treatment so you can be sure we are advising you correctly. We also like you to have a ‘cooling-off’ period between the consultation and the recommended treatment to allow you time to consider your options.
To treat vertical frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal lines on the forehead, bunny lines at the top of the nose and ‘crow’s feet’ at the side of the eyes and a ‘gummy smile’ we use a wrinkle relaxing solution, otherwise known as botulinum toxin. At Mirabel we carry three different brands of toxin as we know from experience that one product does not always suit everyone. The treatment involves a number of small injections of minute quantities of the toxin into the skin and only takes a few minutes. The solution reduces muscle movement in the areas treated so that the skin stops creasing, allowing the lines to soften and fade.
Toxin injections can also be used successfully to treat bruxism (teeth grinding or clenching). The wrinkle relaxing solution blocks the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles in the areas treated offering relief from this troublesome condition.
There is virtually no recovery time from toxin injections, you can resume your normal activities immediately after treatment, although we recommend not doing any sport or physical exercise for 24 hours after treatment, and the muscle relaxation takes place over the following week or so.
The choice and amount of solution used depends on the site and depth of treatment and requires careful consideration by your experienced practitioner during your consultation. The treatment can be tailored to your requirements.
The same injections can be used to reduce embarrassing sweating under the arms. The treatment involves the administration of a number of small injections into the affected skin and typically lasts up to 6 months.
For any treatment with botulinum toxin we always offer a complimentary initial consultation to make sure you are suitable for the treatment and have had an opportunity to ask any questions.
