Overview …

Laser hair removal is a clinically led treatment designed to reduce unwanted or excessive hair by targeting the hair follicle at its root. It offers a long-term solution compared to temporary methods such as shaving, waxing or depilatory creams, which can often be time-consuming and irritating to the skin.

The treatment works by delivering specific wavelengths of light into the hair follicle. This light is absorbed by the pigment within the hair, generating heat that disables the follicle and reduces future growth. Because hair grows in cycles, multiple treatments are required to effectively target hairs in their active growth phase.

Treatment is tailored to the individual, including the choice of laser settings and wavelength based on skin type and hair characteristics. In order for the treatment to be effective the hair has to have pigment, especially at the root, therefore blonde or grey hair isn’t suitable for laser hair removal.

Laser hair removal is suitable for a wide range of areas, from smaller, more delicate zones through to larger areas of the body. Over time, it leads to a noticeable reduction in hair density, with regrowth becoming finer, lighter and less frequent.

While significant, long-term reduction is achievable, some maintenance treatments may be required over time, particularly where hormonal factors influence hair growth.

The GentleMax Pro system, is a medical-grade laser platform designed to deliver effective and controlled hair reduction.

This system combines two laser technologies:

Alexandrite laser – effective for lighter skin tones and finer hair
Nd:YAG laser – suitable for darker skin tones and deeper hair follicles

This dual-wavelength approach allows treatment to be tailored more precisely to different skin types and hair characteristics.

The system also incorporates a Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD™), which delivers a brief cooling spray to the skin before each laser pulse. This helps to:

• protect the surface of the skin
• improve comfort during treatment
• reduce the risk of irritation

The laser uses adjustable spot sizes, allowing both larger areas and more precise zones to be treated effectively.

Laser hair removal is used to reduce unwanted or excessive hair, particularly where regular shaving or waxing leads to irritation, ingrown hairs or discomfort. It provides a more consistent and long-term approach to managing hair growth.

Laser hair removal can be used on a wide range of areas including the face, underarms, legs, bikini line and back. Treatment is tailored to the area being treated, hair type and individual needs. Please note that our aestheticians are trained to treat intimate bikini areas for clients with female anatomy, but we are not currently able to offer laser hair removal on genital areas for clients with male anatomy.

If you are unsure whether your treatment area is covered, our team will be happy to advise.

During treatment, there may be a brief warming or snapping sensation as the laser is applied. Modern systems include cooling mechanisms to support comfort, and the treatment is generally well tolerated.

We do offer Laser hair removal all year round but not if the skin is tanned, so be conscious of this when booking after a sunny holiday.  This reduces the risk of pigmentation changes and allows for safer, more effective treatment planning over a full course.
