What is Cosmelan®?

Cosmelan® is a professional depigmentation treatment designed to reduce dark spots, melasma, and hyperpigmentation. It works by regulating melanin production, helping to restore a more even and luminous complexion. This powerful, non-invasive treatment is trusted by dermatologists worldwide for its effectiveness in treating stubborn pigmentation concerns.

What are the benefits of Cosmelan®?

  • Reduces dark spots, melasma, and hyperpigmentation
  • Regulates melanin production for long-term results
  • Brightens and evens out skin tone
  • Safe for all skin types and tones
  • Non-invasive and highly effective

How does it work?

The Cosmelan® treatment programme is a multi-step process:

  1. In-Clinic Prep Appointment – an in depth consultation with one of our experienced aestheticians. Photos taken to document your journey. Consent forms completed and your skincare prep kit issued.
  2. In-Clinic Treatment – A minimum of 4 weeks later. A depigmentation mask is applied by a skincare professional and left on for several hours.
  3. Review Appointment – A minimum of 5 days later. A personalised aftercare plan, including Cosmelan® maintenance products.
  4. Review Appointment – Every 6 weeks we will ask you to check in with us and we can monitor your results and offer advise and change your aftercare plan if necessary.

Who is Cosmelan® For?

Cosmelan® is ideal for dedicated individuals struggling with hyperpigmentation caused by sun exposure, hormonal changes, contraceptive pills and pigmentation caused by ageing. It is suitable for all skin types and tones.

Which skin conditions can be treated with Cosmelan®?

Cosmelan® treatment can help with the following skin conditions:

  • Freckles: a cluster of cells which have produced more melanin. They’re prominent on people with fair skin and most common in children. They’re caused by exposure to the sun.
  • Melasma: also known as pregnancy mask. This is the darkening of the skin on the face and body.
  • Post-inflammatory marks: any dark mark that is left on the skin after a burn, spot, cut or other injury has healed due to the trauma the skin has endured. Acne scars also come under this category.
  • Sun spots/age spots: a result of exposure to the sun over a long period of time.

How Long Will It Take To See Results??

The most significant changes occur in the first few weeks that follow the in-clinic peel. During this time, the skin feels softer, and pigmentation appears reduced, which can create a misleading sense of success. This initial improvement happens because melanin has been removed from the outermost skin layers, making dark spots appear significantly lighter. However, the underlying pigmentation issue has not yet been fully addressed.

The melanocyte—the cell responsible for producing melanin—remains unregulated and continues to produce excess pigment. To effectively re-educate the melanocyte and control this overproduction, it is essential to follow a dedicated home-care regimen with regulating action.
