Botox™

Botox is an injectable treatment most commonly used to treat frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines and ‘crow’s feet’ at the side of the eyes. It involves a number of small injections of minute quantities of botulinum toxin into the skin and takes a few minutes. The botulinum toxin reduces muscle movement in the areas treated so that the skin stops creasing, allowing the lines to soften and fade. Botox treatment starts to take effect over 4-14 days and wears off after 2-6 months.

Botox is a synthetic toxin which blocks the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles in the areas treated for 3-6 months.
There are no animal products in Botox.

The treatment takes a few minutes and involves the injection of minute quantities of Botox into the treated areas through a number of different puncture sites. There is virtually no recovery time and the muscle relaxation takes place over the following week or so. There is virtually no recovery time and you can resume your normal activities immediately after treatment

Botox has been used as a cosmetic treatment since the late 1980’s when it was originally used to treat spasms of the eye muscles. It has revolutionised the cosmetic industry with its combination of excellent wrinkle relaxation and remarkable lack of risks and side effects.
